The most expensive wine you have ever tasted? What did you like the most about it?

That would have to be Château Pétrus 1982 from Bordeaux. I liked it because it was complex with a long, brooding aftertaste; it was simply unreal!

The best wine glasses and decanters in the world come from?

I love Zalto glasses and Riedel decanters

The best wine collection in the world belongs to?

There is a wine club in London called 67 Pall Mall that boasts the best wine collection.  It’s a wine lover’s haven. But I believe that expensive wines don’t make the best wine collection. It needs to cater to all kinds of wine lovers and be suitable for all kinds of palates, budgets and occasions.

The most expensive wine in India and why would you recommend it?

Recently, I co-hosted an event where Fratelli unveiled its latest release – J’Noon – a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese in collaboration with the Boisset Collection; it costs Rs 4K per bottle making it India’s most expensive wine.

The most luxurious food and wine pairing would be...

In terms of pricing, caviar and champagne, and foie gras with Sauternes would be an ideal match. But the best food and wine pairing is the one that works. A Merlot teamed with maa ki dal or a Pinot Noir with butter chicken can be the perfect combination. Because at the end of the day, if you don’t have a palate for caviar, even the finest wine pairing won’t add any value to it.

Your most favourite fragrance? Can you describe its notes?

My all-time favourites include Coco Chanel No.5 and Jean Paul Gaultier Classique.
I enjoy floral notes of orange blossom and rose intermingling with spice, aniseed with a hint of vanilla.

Your favourite designer and dress! Do you like vintage style or New World when it comes to clothes?

I tend to lean toward the classic, feminine and sophisticated; I don’t understand edgy clothing and like structured clothes. I adore my black and white Chanel dress and Anna Sui’s designs. When it comes to Indian wear, I stick to Banarsi sarees.

Your favourite watch and jewellery brands?

Harry Winston, Jaeger Lecoultre and Audemars Piguet

How do you define luxury?

The luxury of time, place, a good night’s sleep preferably after a glass of wine

A wine quote that you live by?

“If you don’t take risks, you don’t drink Champagne”
