The recently-launched Palladium Chennai— an uber-luxury destination in Velachery promises to a mini-DLF Emporio with the best brands in tow
Adjacent to the Phoenix Mall in Phoenix Market City, it is spread over two lakh sq ft and is the single largest super regional shopping centre housing more than 70 luxury brands like Hugo Boss, H&M, Chanel, Vajor, Kazo, Nike, Mont Blanc, Kate Spade, and Tumi. Ralph Lauren and new restaurants like Papparoti are also expected to come on board in the days to come.
Taking Centre Stage
Over Rs 400 crores have been spent on the interiors and the results are breathtaking. The design of the mall is inspired by the tufting of a Chanel handbag. The dome in the lobby with its video projections is a take on the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel. And the glass cladding on the ceilings is inspired by Jaipur’s famous Sheesh Mahal. Also, if you pay close attention, you would find sleek lines of iPhone in the spatial design of the three-storied mall.
Going forward, the interior will be curated according to the oncoming season. Since spring is on around the corner, the mall will be decked with large-scale paper sculptures, kites and floats. Art installations will also be a regular feature.
A Big Deal for Chennai
Things are looking brighter for luxury malls in India now. Earlier, there were only three big names in the market—DLF Emporio in Delhi, the Palladium in Mumbai and the UB City Mall in Bengaluru catering to the luxury segment. The newly-opened DLF Chanakya in the Capital and Palladium Chennai has taken the tally to five.

The move came after a surge in demand for luxury goods in the neighbouring cities of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
