Buy the new Aston Martin Vantage in India by late-2018!
There are three elements that are quite integral to a Bond film — the number 007, a Martini glass (shaken, not stirred) and of course, an Aston Marin. If there’s one car maker that merits the prize for unswervingly making some of the most beautiful automobiles in history, it’s Aston Martin. So, it’s absolutely no surprise that the new Aston Martin Vantage is as stunning as its precursors. Of all the Aston Martins made, the Vantage name is deified. The name was given to a rare model in the past and after years, Aston Martin resurrected the name. The first use of Vantage goes as early as the 60s.
In 1967, Aston Martin launched the DBS, its most modern car yet. The Vantage was also the model that saved the carmaker from going under and hence the name has been closely associated with the rebirth of the brand. The Vantage name has been pasted on a variety of cars that range from sports cars to incredibly fast GT cars.
In fact, if you were to ask someone to name an Aston Martin model, chances are, you’ll hear the word Vantage. The model pretty much defines the philosophy behind the iconic carmaker that already has a presence in India. It is likely to bring in this new Vantage to India by late-2018. The Vantage is the carmaker’s
The new Vantage is built on Aston Martin’s new platform that uses lots of aluminium to save weight. Also, the Vantage shares some of its bones with the more expensive and larger DB11. Under the hood, there a new Mercedes-AMG–sourced, 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V-8that makes a hefty same 503 horsepower. That’s enough for a claimed 0-100kph in a blistering 3.5 seconds; if you have enough road it will do a staggering 314kph! That said there’s a lot more to the Vantage than just straight-line pace. The engineers have also focussed on making it one of the best handling cars in the segment. For example, the engine has been placed more towards the rear to improve the centre of gravity and thus improve grip and handling.
Also improving in overall dynamics of the new Vantage are revised proportions. Aston’s new chief of design, has built the car to be a bit wider and longer than the car it replaces. Additionally, the stunning new Vantage has been sharpened up all-around and now, and looks even more exquisite. At the front, the headlights are pushed farther out, and the power bulge on the hood is much more significant. While the grille has Aston’s iconic design, it’s now nicely integrated into the front splitter. At the rear are narrow LED light units that mesh into a light bar. Like with the bigger DB11, Aston’s engineers are proud of being able to make a car that can offer aerodynamic stability at high speeds without the need for any active wings.
Step inside and the cabin looks almost new. This is mainly because the carmaker now uses Mercedes-Benz’s electronic architecture that allows for more equipment and features while making the interface more user-friendly. In fact, folks who are familiar with a Benz should find themselves familiar with the switches, knobs and infotainment controls. That said, the similarity ends there. The seating position is snug and the overall compact dimensions make it a proper two-seater. This means, the car simply wraps around you, making for an involving experience. The new Aston Martin Vantage is luxurious too with a nicely finished trim that employs oodles of carbon fibre and leather. As for convenience, the 8.0-inch touch screen features phone compatibility.
Additionally, you can kit the car further with a Tech pack that adds blind-spot monitoring, an active park-assist system, power adjustment for the steering column, and glass switchgear. A Comfort pack will bring 16-way seat adjustment and seat heaters. Then there are the nearly unlimited paint and trim options available via special order. Furthermore, the Vantage uses the same stylish digital instrument cluster that’s found on the Aston DB11. Despite being the ‘entry’ level model to the Aston stable, prices are expected to start at around Rs 1.5 Crore, excluding taxes. This puts it squarely against cars such as the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-type. While the Vantage faces off against some competent cars, it has something going for it that the others don’t. The approval of 007 himself!
